If you're an incoming student at Miami University, you're probably excited and a little bit nervous about starting college. Don't worry! I was too! One of the best ways to get acclimated to campus life is through Miami's orientation process. Settle down, and I'll walk you through everything you need to know about Miami University's orientation.
So, WHAT is Miami's orientation process?

Miami's orientation process is a comprehensive program designed to help new students adjust to college life. The program includes both virtual and in-person components and covers a wide range of topics, including academics, campus resources, and social activities.
The program starts with a virtual orientation experience that students can complete on their own time. I highly recommend doing this during the summer whenever you have downtime. The virtual orientation includes videos, interactive modules, and quizzes that cover everything from academic advising to campus safety, such as what to do in case of alcohol poisoning and how you can maintain DEI (diversity, equality, and inclusion) on our campus!
Once the virtual orientation is complete, students will attend an in-person orientation session. During this session, students will have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors, register for classes, and learn more about the resources available on campus. As well as get to meet your future classmates!
What Can You Expect During Miami University's Orientation Process?
Miami University's Orientation Process is a pretty busy but exciting time. You might get caught up in all the information that is going to be thrown at you, but here's what you can expect during the two-day orientation:
Once you complete the virtual orientation, you'll attend an in-person orientation session on campus. During this session, you'll have the opportunity to meet with academic advisors, register for classes, and learn more about the resources available on campus.
You'll also have the opportunity to take a campus tour and get familiar with the layout of the campus. This will help you feel more comfortable and confident as you start your classes. In most cases, they offer incoming students to stay in dorms to get a true Miami University experience!

Miami's orientation program also includes social activities designed to help you meet other new students and make friends. You'll have the chance to participate in icebreakers, games, and other fun activities. There may or may not also be a DJ to get the vibes up!
During the in-person orientation, you'll also have the opportunity to attend a resource fair. This fair includes representatives from various departments and organizations on campus, giving you the chance to learn more about the many resources available to you as a Miami student. When I did my orientation they had a chance for you to collect stickers from every table and get entered into a raffle!
Why is Miami University's Orientation Process Important?
Miami University's Orientation Process is an important part of the college experience for several reasons. First and foremost, it helps new students feel more comfortable and confident as they navigate the transition to college life.
In addition, the orientation program provides new students with important information about academics, campus resources, and social activities. This information can help students make informed decisions about their classes, extracurricular activities, and social lives.
Finally, Miami's orientation program provides new students with the opportunity to meet other students and make friends. This can be especially important for students who are new to the area and don't know many people on campus.
Come back later to see what more I have to share!
xoxo, Sierra
