A couple of weeks ago was Big Appreciation Week. This is an exciting time in sorority life when new members get to show their appreciation for their big sisters. As a new member, I was thrilled to participate in this special event and show my big sister, Jess, how much she means to me. One of the highlights of Big Appreciation Week is the paddle decoration, where new mems create a special and personalized paddle for their big sisters.
For me, the paddle decoration was a fun and creative way to express my gratitude to my big sister. I spent hours carefully painting and decorating the paddle, choosing colors and designs that I knew she would love. I incorporated our sorority's symbols and the year we were founded, as well as our saying, "LITP" or "Love in the Pyramid". I wanted the paddle to not only be a beautiful decoration for
my big to hold on to but to also be a symbol of our special connection.
When it was finally time to present the paddle to my big sister, I was excited and nervous. I went the extra mile and threw in a matching canvas, and curated a special basket for her. Seeing her look of joy and appreciation made all the hard work worth it. It was an emotional moment that I will always cherish.

Big Appreciation Week and the paddle decoration are just one small part of the big/little process, but they hold a lot of meaning and significance AND are a fun and exciting time. They represent the bond between a big sister and a little sister, a relationship that is built on trust, support, and love. As a new member, I feel grateful to be part of this special tradition and to have found such an amazing big sister. I only have her to thank, for teaching me what I can share...
I love you lots, Jess! xoxo, Sierra
