Formal sorority recruitment, also known as "rush," can be a nerve-wracking experience for many college women. However, it's also an exciting opportunity to explore the different sororities on campus and find a sisterhood that aligns with your values and interests. Here's what you can expect from the formal sorority recruitment process.
The process typically begins with an orientation session, where you'll learn about the different sororities on campus, the recruitment schedule, and what to expect throughout the process. You'll also have the opportunity to meet other potential new members and ask any questions you may have. Next, you'll attend a series of recruitment events over the course of several days. These events typically include house tours, information sessions, and one-on-one conversations with members. You'll also participate in activities and games to get to know the sorority members and their values.
As the recruitment process continues, you'll start narrowing down your options and choosing which sororities you're most interested in. You'll rank the sororities in order of preference, and the sororities will also rank their preferred potential new mems. On the final day of recruitment, you'll receive your bid - an invitation to join one of the sororities on campus. If you accept the bid, you'll become a new member and begin the process of pledging and joining the sorority. While the formal sorority recruitment process can be intense and overwhelming at times, it's also a valuable opportunity to find a community that supports and uplifts you. And as always, I'm here to provide you with some tips for making the most of your recruitment experience:
Always be yourself. The most important thing is to be true to yourself throughout the process. Don't try to be someone you're not in order to fit in with a particular sorority.

Keep an open mind- Don't judge a sorority based on preconceived notions or stereotypes. Each sorority is unique, and you may be surprised by the ones that you end up connecting with the most.
Dress appropriately, make sure to follow the dress code for each event. And always choose clothing that makes you feel confident and comfortable.
Stay positive! Recruitment can be stressful and emotional but try to stay positive and keep an open mind. Remember that the sororities are also trying to find the best fit for their chapter.
And finally, trust the process!! The sorority recruitment process is designed to help you find the best fit for you, so trust the process and have faith that everything will work out in the end.
Whether you end up joining a sorority or not, the formal sorority recruitment process is a valuable experience that can help you grow as a person and make lifelong connections. So, take a deep breath, stay true to yourself, and enjoy the journey! And if the whole idea of a formal rush seems too extravagant or overwhelming- There is always the informal rushing process! But you'll have to tune in next time to see what more, I have to share ;)
xoxo, Sierra
